Nobody saw this coming. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has become the flavour of the box-office, with 'Bimbisara' logging a massive Rs 6.27 Cr (Share) in the Telugu States on its release date (August 5, Friday).
As per trade reports, the film's Nizam figure stands at Rs 2.12 Cr (including GST), while the Ceded figure is a very good Rs 1.30 Cr. The rest came from Andhra.
The film, directed by newcomer Vassishta, made Rs 6.27 Cr overall in the Telugu States. As per the film's team, this is 50% of the total cost for which the distributors had bought the film.
This figure has come on the back of the genre and the storyline. Had the film had a better characterization for the villain (played by Vivan Bhatena), the word of mouth would have been even more encouraging.
Produced by NTR Arts, 'Bimbisara' is expected to break even in most centres by the end of the first weekend.
