A song titled 'Chola Chola' from 'Ponniyin Selvan-I' was released at an event in Hyderabad on Friday. Composed by AR Rahman, it is a Mano-Anurag Kulkarni rendition.
Speaking at the song launch event, Tanikella Bharani said that the Mani Ratnam-directed magnum opus has got 50 characters in all. Prakash Raj praised the folk drama nature of the film. He suggested that the film's director had been mentally thinking about the subject and its casting for many years before launching the project. He also praised Mani for pioneering the pan-Indian movie trend.
Dil Raju said, "I became a producer with 'Amrutha' (2001). Since then, I have made 50 movies. I am releasing 'PS-I' in Telugu (in some territories). If the content is good, the audience accepts the movie for sure."
Karthi said, "I had worked as an assistant director under Mani sir. I have got to work with him as an actor. This film is based on a novel written by Kalki. I am so happy to have got to do this film."
Vikram said, "I have had a special bond with Mani sir. Teaming up with him for 'Ravan' was a dream come true. After working with Mani sir and Shankar sir, I felt I can retire from films!"
Suhasini said, "It's like coming to my mother's place today. 'PS-I' has been made with a lot of struggle. This is our dream project."
Mani Ratnam said, "I have to thank Chiranjeevi garu on this occasion. I will tell you the reason later. And I must also thank Rajamouli, for it is because of his 'Baahubali' movies that we could think of making 'PS-I' on this scale. He gave us the strength to make the attempt."
