Telugu heroes, are you listening to Akshay Kumar?

Akshay Kumar's career was on an upswing like anything before the pandemic. Post-pandemic, barring 'Sooryavanshi', it has been a rough patch for him. 'Bachchhan Paandey' didn't do well. 'Samrat Prithviraj' flopped badly. And 'Raksha Bandhan' was a disaster.

Speaking at an event on Saturday, the Bollywood star said that the flops are to be blamed on him. “Films are not working. It is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me," he has been quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The 'Cuttputlli' actor didn't mouth banalities like this 'Audience's tastes can't be understood', 'Nobody makes movies with the intention of delivering a flop', blah blah.

Akshay admitted that it is his fault. This is not what top-tier Telugu heroes are known to say. Barring very few exceptions, they never say that they are at fault. They either blame cost failures, a wrong release strategy, or simply the weakness of the story. But they don't want to admit that they were the ones who picked the stories and therefore, they have to take the blame.
