Ram Gopal Varma has a theory why 'Radhe Shyam' has flopped. In his most recent interview, the director put the blame squarely on the ostentatious nature of the production design and art direction.
"Visual feast is a separate component. My theory is that 'Radhe Shyam' hasn't worked for people precisely because it's a visual feast. The lavishness has come at the expense of emotions. We are not able to connect with the characters because of the lavishness," RGV said.
Varma added that had Vikramaditya (Prabhas) and Prerana (Pooja Hegde) been shown to be meeting in some fast food centre or some other familiar place, we would have been able to relate to them. "In 'Radhe Shyam', the lead pair meet in a train we have never seen in our lives, in places we have never been to," Varma added.
The film, directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, is produced by UV Creations.
