Yesteryear actress Nagma, who starred opposite top South Indian stars in the 1990s, is hurt. She has been denied a Rajya Sabha seat by the Congress party, which she joined in the early 2000s in the hope that she will enter the upper house of the Parliament one day. After she directly questioned Sonia Gandhi via Twitter on Monday, Nagma's name trended on Twitter India.
"Sonia Ji, our Congress president, had personally committed to accommodating me in the Rajya Sabha in 2003 when I joined the Congress party at her behest. At that time, we weren’t in power. Since then it has been 18 years. They didn't find an opportunity to keep their word," Nagma wrote.
Nagma asked if she is less deserving than the 10 people who were nominated from 7 States on Sunday.
Had Nagma not been in politics, she would probably be playing superb roles in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi movies in the last twenty years. She would most likely have gained an upper hand over the likes of Ramya Krishna instead of having to do only Bhojpuri films with politics keeping her busy. Today, she is having to whine about being denied an Upper House entry!
