The Sankranthi controversy has only become thicker. The Telugu Film Producers Council doesn't want Thalapathy Vijay's 'Vaarasudu' to have a major release at the expense of 'Waltair Veerayya' and 'Veera Simha Reddy'. But Vijay's film has got Dil Raju's backing.
What happens if 'Vaarasudu' gets a major release? Two scenarios will play out. If the film is extraordinary, it will continue to hold on to its big-scale release with houseful collections. But if the film is average, the films of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna will replace it in many theatres. Eventually, the audience are going to decide Vijay's fate in the Telugu States even if he gets a massive momentum initially.
Commenting on the same indirectly, Tamil producer SR Prabhu says, "Theatres decide on their films based on current demand and previous trends. In other words, the audience are deciding it. Post-release, a shuffle happens so quickly. So there is less revenue loss too. Audiences have grown very particular over time."
