'Kabzaa', which was released in March, became a major flop in all languages barring Kannada. In Telugu, the Upendra starrer couldn't earn even half-decent openings. Even Raghava Lawrence's 'Rudhrudu', also a dubbed movie, was not such a humiliating flop in Telugu this Friday.
Therefore, the announcement of 'Kabzaa 2' has shocked many. Netizens are commenting that this is the first time that a sequel has been announced to a disaster.
But the truth is that the Kannada version might have fetched the producer enough money from non-theatrical deals. The producers might be in a safe zone and that's why they are going ahead with the sequel even though the public mood may not be in favour of it in regions outside Karnataka. The sequel will anyways be ignored by trade in non-Kannada languages.
Ramachandra Gowda, a political leader from Karnataka, will be backing the sequel. Also starring Shriya Saran, Kiccha Sudeep, and Shivarajkumar, the film is directed by R Chandru.
