This week, two small movies got released in theatres: 'Mr. Pregnant' and 'Prem Kumar'. And two old movies were re-released: Prabhas' 'Yogi' and Dhanush's 'Raghuvaran B.Tech'. In some territories like Hyderabad, the two old movies logged houseful shows in the morning. On the other hand, the two fresh releases were completely rejected by the audience.
In this context, actor Sohel Ryan (who has played a pregnant husband in 'Mr. Pregnant') sincerely urged producers/distributors/presenters not to field re-release movies in the race when small movies are in the fray. "Small movies are released in the hope of attracting footfalls. Their release dates are planned to avoid competition with big movies. But if re-releases of old movies are announced, small movies get badly affected. Producers who invest crores on small movies go for a toss," Sohel said.
The former Bigg Boss Telugu contestant advised that the re-release of big-star movies can be done on weekdays instead of weekends.
