President Droupadi Murmu today unveiled a commemorative Rs 100 coin featuring NT Rama Rao at an event held in Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Besides Nandamuri Balakrishna, Daggubati Purandeswari was also present on the occasion
"This coin has a diameter of 44 mm and has 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel & 5% zinc," a recent report said. The coin is marked with the years '1923-2023'.
The Government of India minted the coin marking the centenary celebrations of the legendary thespian, who also founded the Telugu Desam Party and went on to become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1983 within nine months of entering politics. It was on January 9, 1983, that NTR was sworn in as the 7th CM of AP.
