The promo for the second song from 'Guntur Kaaram', titled 'Oh My Baby', was released on Monday. Surprisingly, Sree Leela's brief screen presence in the promo suggests that Trivikram Srinivas is presenting her like no other director since her debut with 'Pelli SandaD' in 2021. She was good in 'Dhamaka' but didn't make the grade (except with dances) in 'Skanda', 'Aadikeshava' and 'Extra'. Sree Leela was made to look youngish in 'Bhagavanth Kesari', given she was not a lead actress.
'Guntur Kaaram', to be released in theatres on January 12 next year (2024), could prove that Sree Leela is the real deal. And she could be seen as the best Mahesh Babu heroine in a decade.
Keerthy Suresh in 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata', Pooja Hegde in 'Maharshi', and the Samantha-Kajal Aggarwal duo in 'Brahmotsavam' didn't receive accolades. Their pairing with Mahesh was underwhelming, either because of the script or their characters or both. Rashmika Mandanna managed to make a mark with her 'Meeku artham avtunda?!' in 'Sarileru Neekevvaru'. However, she was not seen as a great-looking heroine opposite Mahesh. Rakul Preet Singh in 'SPYder' was trolled. Shruti Haasan looked good opposite Mahesh in 'Srimanthudu' but the film is hardly talked about for the pairing.
If Sree Leela looks like a million bucks opposite Mahesh, that will give a fillip to her career.
