The orthotics and prosthetics services of Jaipur, Rajasthan, are famous across India. Jaipur artificial limbs are cost-effective and highly sought-after by many.
On Wednesday, a Jaipur Foot USA facility was inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister Ramdas Athawale in Hyderabad's Hi-Tech City. The event was attended by star anchor Suma Kanakala, Federation of India Association's representatives, and others.
The Minister, speaking on the occasion, said that as many as 2.60 crore individuals suffer from one or another physical disability across India.
The facility is coming up under the aegis of People Tech chief Vishwa Prasad. Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) is also supporting the mission.
Jaipur Foot USA Chairman Prem Bhandari was present on the occasion. Avinash Rai, film producer Abhishek Agarwal and others were also present. At least one thousand physically-disabled people will be provided with artificial limbs in the coming years at no cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Suma Kanakala said that India is increasingly becoming disability-friendly. Specially-abled individuals need to be provided all sorts of help, she added. Those who can't afford artificial limbs need help from charity associations, she added.
