It is known that Dil Raju and C Kalyan are contesting the presidential post in the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce this time. The elections will be held on July 30. On Wednesday, at a presser, C Kalyan said that his agenda is to unite the four major southern film industries under one umbrella.
"I am the one who first brought the Medi Claim insurance facility for the benefit of Telugu film producers. The Producers Guild, on its part, has been trying to chip away at the Chamger's revenue. In the last four years, the financial core of the Chamber has been destroyed. In the past, producers Dil Raju and Damodara Prasad said that they will take tough decisions regarding digital charges. Owing to their statement, I backed down and didn't contest polls. I have come across cases where the release of some small films was stalled for want of just Rs 2 lakh. If small films suffer, thousands will go to bed on empty stomach in Krishna Nagar in Hyderabad," Kalyan said, adding that the Telugu film industry needs a stalwart like Dasari Narayana Rao.
"There are 1,600 producers who are eligible to vote in this year's polls. Production houses have voting rights in the Chamber. It is not individuals who possess the right to vote. Their representative will exercise the right to vote on behalf of the banner he is associated with. Twenty-seven members of the Guild are exploiting the Chamber. I have no personal beef with Dil Raju. None of my films has been released by him in the past. He is my opponent only at the time of the elections. The industry is suffering due to monopolization and the studio-ization of business," he said.
