'Adipurush' has changed the perception around Prabhas' box-office potential, which was in doubt after 'Radhe Shyam'. Prabhas' 2022 release flopped miserably in Hindi. But 'Adipurush' has logged massive openings in both Telugu and Hindi.
As per early estimates, 'Adipurush' minted Rs 140 Cr gross on Day One. This is the fourth best opening in the history of Indian cinema. The first three places are occupied by 'RRR' (Rs 225 Cr), 'Baahubali 2' (Rs 214 Cr), and 'KGF 2' (Rs 163 Cr).
As per trade analysts, at least four films are going to take an 'Adipurush'-like opening at the box office in the coming year and a half. 'Salaar' and 'Project K', starring Prabhas, are obviously on the list. 'Pushpa 2', featuring Allu Arjun, is expected to take humongous openings because it is a sequel to a blockbuster. 'War 2', featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, will also be in for massive openings.
If 'Animal' becomes a hit and Sandeep Reddy Vanga reaches the next level, 'Spirit' too will join the list. Ram Charan has some way to go before he can pull off something of this sort. 'Game Changer' might see muted openings in Hindi. Mahesh Babu doesn't stand a chance until his movie with SS Rajamouli comes out.
