Kollywood director Obeli N Krishna recently directed 'Pathu Thala' with Simbu as the hero. The film's content and music (by AR Rahman) were critically acclaimed.
The news is that the Mozart of Madras (as the 'Ponniyin Selvan' director is fondly known) has gifted him an Apple MacBook Pro. The sweet gesture has stunned Obeli, who is slated to make a multi-lingual release next.
Obeli is also known for the Tamil film 'Silluindru Oru Kadhal', starring Suriya, Jyothika and Bhumika Chawla in lead roles. The same was dubbed into Telugu as 'Nuvvu Nenu Prema'.
The filmmaker is now poised to carve a niche for himself by wielding the megaphone for a pan-India flick, to be produced by Ramesh Krishnamoorthy of Global One Studios. The same will likely have music by Rahman himself.
As for 'Pathu Thala', also starring Priya Bhavani Shankar and Gautham Karthik, the film is about an undercover cop who kills a crime lord. "However, when he realizes that the crime lord's business intentions are good and he has his own challenges, he needs to decide his next step and help the crime lord change his life," says IMDb, describing the film's plot.
