The first song from 'Kushi' was released on Tuesday marking Vijay Deverakonda's birthday. And the song is an obvious tribute to Mani Ratnam's filmography.
Lyricist Shiva Nirvana (also the film's director of 'Majili' and 'Tuck Jagadish' fame) flaunts his Mani fanboy credentials by infusing the titles of the 'Ponniyin Selvan' director's movies. "Na Roja nuvve, na Dil Se nuvve, na Anjali nuvve, na Geethanjali nuvve" - so go the lines. 'Ok Bangaram' and other titles are also heard.
Set to tune by Hesham Abdul Wahab, the song is shot on the charming Vijay Deverakonda, who plays a Hindu man wooing Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Kashmiri Muslim character.
The film will be released in theatres on September 1. Mythri Movie Makers is going to ensure the biggest-ever release for Vijay.
