In 'Japan', Karthi plays a character who is both feared and laughed out. Is he feared because he is crazy? Is he laughed at because he is insanely clownish and occasionally inept? We will know the answer when the film hits the cinemas on Diwali. For now, we tend to enjoy the irreverent swag and flamboyance of the lead man.
Besides Karthi, the rest of the characters look like they are from a different universe. Anu Emmanuel is mildly dramatic, while Sunil comes with an exaggerated flavour. Also starring Vijay Milton, the film is directed by Rajumurugan, who hides the actual genre of the movie as much as he reveals the commercial beats.
Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures' SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabu, the film is shot by S Ravi Varman. GV Prakash Kumar's music looks fine. Philomin Raj (Editor), Anl Arasu (stunts), Vinesh Banglan (production design), Praveen Raja (costumes), Mahendran (art), Tappas Nayak (sound design), and Sandy (dance choreography) have worked on the movie.
