It is known that 'Vikram' and 'Leo' maker Lokesh Kanagaraj is going to helm Superstar Rajinikanth's 171st film ('Thalaivar171'). In his latest interview, the acclaimed Tamil director has thrown the hint that the 'Jailer' actor could be seen in a negative role in this untitled action thriller.
"The thing I like the most about Rajinikanth sir is his villainism. I am going to show that side as much as possible in the film," the filmmaker has been quoted as saying.
Since contemporary cinegoers are tired of lopsided, morally perfect larger-than-life characters, Kanagaraj may well be on the right track. Rajini, too, needs to explore characters that don't expect him to overdo the same old tropes. That's why 'Annaatthe' and 'Darbar' were absolutely boring.
'Jailer' and 'Leo' have become Rs 500 Cr grossers. The actor-director duo wants to repeat this success of theirs with their next.
