'Ramanna Youth', the village-based political comedy starring Abhai Naveen as an underdog, is going to hit the cinemas on September 15. Its pre-release event was held in Hyderabad on Monday. Vishnu Oi of 'Taxiwala' fame, Srikanth Iyangar, Anil Gill, Tagubothu Ramesh, Yadamma Raju and others will be seen in different roles in the movie.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest and actor Vishwak Sen said, "It has been proven many times that you don't need to make your movies on big budgets to create history. 'Pelli Choopulu', 'Arjun Reddy', 'Balagam', 'Masooda', 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi'... Those movies worked because of content, not budget. I hope history is repeated with 'Ramanna Youth'."
Sen said that political consciousness is prevalent in rural areas among youngsters. "I had a chance to listen to the premise of this movie more than a year ago. I found it quite interesting. Actors like Abhai Naveen and Thiruveer ('Masooda' fame) are passionate. I have known them as struggling actors like I was," the 'Das Ka Dhamki' star said.
Actor-director Abhai Naveen said that he is living his 10-year-old dream. He thanked his father for always standing by him. The 'George Reddy' artist also thanked his wife and spoke sentimentally about his newborn daughter, describing her as Lakshmi Devi. "I used to do Dubsmash videos. Priyadarshi encouraged me and prodded me to audition for 'Pelli Choopulu'. That was a defining film for me. The producer of 'Ramanna Youth' is a blessing. He didn't even read the whole script. He trusted me," Naveen said.
With music by Kamran and sound design by Nagarjuna Thallapalli, 'Ramanna Youth' has cinematography handled by Fahad Abdul Majeed and editing by Rupak Ronaldson. Women have worked in the direction department of the movie. Most of the talents associated with the movie come with no film background and have made it to this through their hard work, the speakers said.
