'Maidaan', the biographical sports drama, was released in theatres on Thursday on the occasion of Eid. Even though it was a public holiday, the film took shockingly low openings. The biopic on the legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim might end up as a disaster if the collections don't see a surge.
On Friday, the makers introduced a Buy 1 Get 1 offer. They are hoping that collections will pick up over the weekend following the introduction of the offer.
"Spanning from 1952 to 1962, the film chronicles the life and journey of Syed Abdul Rahim, an esteemed football coach who revolutionized the sport in India. Due to his immense contribution in football, the Indian Football Team was called 'Brazil of Asia' where they played in a 4-2-4 formation," the makers said, talking about the premise of the film.
Directed by Amit Sharma, the film also features Priyamani and others.
