Naga Chaitanya's to-be wife Sobhita Dhulipala has been an acting talent to watch out for. A multi-lingual actress who has mainly done Hindi films/OTT originals, her work is limited in Telugu cinema. Since her debut in cinema in 2016, the 32-year-old actress has barely acted in two movies (read 'Goodachari' and 'Major').
Many assume that she is a non-native Telugu speaker. She was born in Andhra Pradesh's Tenali. Her father Venugopal Rao used to work as a Merchant Navy engineer. Her mother, Santha Kamakshi, was a primary school teacher.
Like Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Sobhita, too, comes from a middle-class background with no cinema background.
Sobhita won the Femina Miss India Earth 2013 title at Femina Miss India 2013 pageant and represented India at Miss Earth 2013. After her foray into movies, she was fortunate enough to get to work with the likes of Mani Ratnam. "I would love to do Telugu films. There is a closeness to home when I do a Telugu movie. I have got to do non-Telugu southern movies, 'Kurup' being one. Mani Ratnam sir's 'Ponniyin Selvan' is another one. I am happy to have done this film because I am a fan of historical movies," she said in an interview in 2022.
'Made in Heaven' (Amazon Prime Video), 'Bard of Blood' (Netflix), and 'The Night Manager' (Disney Plus Hotstar) are her three web series so far.
After her wedding, Sobhita Dhulipala will most likely continue to act. "I would love to be part of exciting stories, told with passion. Language, medium, no bar. As much as I love to consume films from every part of the world, even greater is my desire to contribute and create stories that can touch a variety of people, it’s something all artists enjoy," she recently told Hindustan Times.
