'Double ISMART' was released in theatres yesterday (August 15). Its box-office performance, as per early trade reports, was underwhelming on the opening day.
In the Telugu States, the Ram Pothineni-starrer minted Rs 5 Cr (Share). This is more than Rs 2.50 Cr lesser than what 'iSmart Shankar' made five years ago on its first day.
To understand the quantum of attrition, here is the thing. The value of Double ISMART's theatrical rights is nearly 250% of that of its predecessor. It should have ideally collected more than Rs 10 Cr on Day 1.
At this rate, the distributors are staring at losses. Prime Show Entertainments has released the movie in the Telugu States. Probably, producers Puri and Charmme Kaur made profits from the deal.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film stars Sanjay Dutt as Big Bull, Asia's biggest arms supplier with the brain of the smallest ant.
