'Baby', which is one of the biggest hits in the history of Telugu cinema in terms of return on investment, was released in theatres last year. Director Sai Rajesh and producer SKN have now been named in a police complaint in connection with the film's story.
As per the Raidurg Police in Hyderabad, one Shirin Sriram has alleged that the story of 'Baby' was originally written by him under the title 'Kanna Please'. It was Sai Rajesh who first listened to the story. As per the complaint, producer Srinivasa Kumar Naidu (SKN) was given a narration in the year 2015.
In the past, several such complaints have been lodged with the police by multiple writers/directors across India. Most of them don't stand legal scrutiny and most copyright infringement cases take years to be concluded (if admitted in the first place).
'Baby', which was led by Vijay Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Viraj Ashwin, will be remade in Hindi this year. Sai Rajesh himself will be directing it.
