Sid Sriram has been one of the highest-paid singers in the country. Two years back, he was charging Rs 5 lakh per song. This is astronomical in an industry where some singers are paid Rs 20,000 hardly.
In his latest interview, Mani Sharma has commented that he wants to listen to songs not sung by Sid Sriram. "I don't understand the science of it. His songs have a singular expression. I don't comprehend why it is like that," the star composer of the 2000s said.
Asked about Sid Sriram's popularity and the most sought-after status, Mani Sharma said that the remuneration of singers has gone up but not that of directors. Incidentally, the composer of superhit albums like Pawan Kalyan's 'Kushi', Mahesh Babu's 'Okkadu' and Chiranjeevi's 'Indra' roped in Sid Sriram for a song in 'Shaakuntalam' last year.
In the interview, Mani Sharma also critiqued the quality of music in commercial entertainers these days. "The songs are shorter and their shelf-life is poor," Mani Sharma said.
