Over the recent months, there have been reports indicating that major OTT platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are not offering substantial fees for the digital rights to movies. According to sources, revenues from digital streaming have experienced a decline ranging from 40% to 50%, particularly affecting Telugu and Tamil films.
In this context, something unbelievable has been said about the Tamil movie' 'Vidaa Muyarchi', an action thriller film starring Ajith Kumar in the lead. Written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the film's post-theatrical digital release rights are held by Netflix.
A national daily has disclosed that producer Subaskaran Allirajah from Lyca Productions has reportedly finalized an OTT deal amounting to Rs 100 Cr by selling the digital rights of his movie to the platform. If this information is accurate, it signifies a standalone achievement on the part of Ajith's movie. However, if it turns out to be merely a promotional tactic, individuals within the industry would likely be aware of the actual scenario.
Co-starring Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Regina Cassandra and Arav, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
