Senior playback singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she was recently diagnosed with hearing loss. The celebrated multi-lingual singer was diagnosed with a rare sensory neural nerve sensory loss. She revealed the health update via Instagram.
"To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, as I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything. Having mustered some courage in the weeks following the episode, I want to break my silence now for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing in action (sic)," Alka Yagnik wrote.
She revealed that the hearing loss was the result of a viral attack. "As I attempt to come to terms with it, please keep me in your prayers. One day, I wish to share the health perils of my professional life," she added.
The 58-year-old singer has received two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer over a span of more than two decades.
