Aishwarya Rajinikanth has revealed that 'Lal Salaam', which was released in theatres in February, met with a rare fate. Precious footage shot over three weeks got destroyed, leaving the unit in a state of shock. Lyca Productions had to recommission production works for the lost portions.
"We were shocked to lose twenty-one days of footage due to someone's irresponsible behaviour. We had 500 junior artists working on the portions day after day. The effort of 2,000 crew members was atrophied," Aishwarya told a TV channel in Tamil.
'Lal Salaam', which had Rajinikanth in a special role, was based on cricket. A huge camera crew had worked on cricket match portions. The entire footage got destroyed.
The film was a huge disaster at the Tamil box office. The Telugu version made literally nothing.
