When 'Family Star' was released, Vijay Deverakonda and Dil Raju got a cyber crime complaint lodged against those writing motivated negative reviews against the film. Trolling and online negativity affect the cinema business and confuse the trade, a view that has been held by Vijay's brother, Anand Deverakonda.
Addressing the question of why Vijay resorted to help from the cyber department during 'Family Star', Anand said that expressing negative views about a film is not wrong but putting out highly motivated hostile reviews even before the release of a film creates a strain. He implied that the producers and trade circles would be thrown into a confused state when that happens. As such, the orchestrated campaigns by haters must be curbed with the help of the law enforcement agencies, he indirectly reasoned.
In the past, 'Son Of India', among other movies, was also targeted by cyber bullies in a similar fashion. Manchu Vishnu and Mohan Babu, at that time, threatened trolls with legal action.
