'Lingaa', the action comedy film which hit the cinemas in 2014, remains one of the biggest disasters in Superstar Rajinikanth's career. Was its failure a self-inflicted wound?
If its director KS Ravikumar is to be believed, the project was sailing smoothly until Rajinikanth decided to wreck the ship! In his latest interview, KS Ravikumar accused the superstar of interfering with the content. His unwarranted interference screwed the entire second half.
Due to Rajini's insistence on odd story-related changes, the director had to do away with the climax twist he had in mind. A song involving Rajini and Anushka Shetty was forcibly whacked out of the film.
KS Ravikumar's interview may be sincere and truthful, but nothing really seemed right with 'Lingaa'. AR Rahman's music was not memorable, the Rajini-Sonakshi Sinha pairing was awkward, and the action sequences lacked imagination. None of these was possibly spoiled by Rajini. Or, maybe, they were so bad that Rajini didn't need to spoil them!
