Traditionally, the first song from a movie is the best song of the album. So, expectations from the first single of Varun Tej's 'Matka' were high (at least among the few who know about the film's existence). Music director GV Prakash Kumar, though, has delivered an off-key song that is low on energy and high on dated production values. One hopes the rest of the songs are montage ones, given how lousy the picturization is.
It is hard to take any stretch in the song seriously. Everything looks like an odd rehash, with director Karuna Kumar trying something he has no grip on. Nora Fatehi's dance moves lack sensuous energy. And the intended tension in the song is absent. The music director and the choreographer must take blame, besides the Varun Tej-Nora duo.
Meenakshi Chowdary and Naveen Chandra feature in major roles in 'Matka'. The film will head to theatres on November 14. The Teaser of 'Matka' was released recently.
