Exactly nine days after Anarkali (Anjali Devi) had left this world, Salim (ANR) followed her. Yes, incidentally two stars that started film journey at the same time and shined on silver screen as a romantic pair for about a decade from 1948 to 1959, also reached their destination almost at the same time. Tollywood has made some excellent films like ‘Balaraju’, ‘Keelu Gurram’, ‘Palleturi Pilla’, ‘Swapna Sundari’, ‘Anarkali’, ‘Allauddin Adhbutha Deepam’, ‘Panduranga Mahatyam’, ‘Suvarna Sundari’, ‘Chenchu Lakshmi’, ‘Jayabheri’, ‘Bhakta Tukaram’, with this on-screen wonderful pair in the golden era. As 86 year old Anjali Devi reached heaven on January 13, 90 year old Akkineni Nageswara Rao said ‘Goodbye’ to this world on January 22 to join her there. What a miracle journey? But isn’t it a great loss to Tollywood for loosing two veterans at a time?
