Patrayani Sangeetha Rao, who worked as an assistant under the timeless playback singer Ghantasala, passed away days after he contracted covid-19. He was undergoing treatment in Chennai when death struck him.
The talented composer was aged 101. He won Ghantasala's confidence in the early stages of his career. The veteran was the son of the legendary singer's teacher.
Known for coming up with meticulous compositions to amp up Kuchipudi performances, Sangeetha Rao was widely respected all over for his craft. He belonged to the old school of music.
Because he was an expert at playing the harmonium, he could sustain a robust career in association with Ghantasala for 25 years. Rao's writings were published in several publications, such as Telugu Swatantra, Andhra Prabha, Andhra Patrika and Jagathi.
