There is a view that the Telugu film industry doesn't want Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming Sankranthi release 'Vaarasudu' to get a wide release in the Telugu States. The Telugu Film Producers Council wants the first preference to be accorded to 'Waltair Veerayya' and 'Veera Simha Reddy'.
'Vaarasudu' is a dubbed movie. 'Varisu' is its original version, made in Tamil. A Tamil Nadu politician has warned that Telugu movies dubbed into Tamil will have to bear the brunt of a ban if 'Vaarasudu' is not given a good release in the Telugu States. Kollywood director Lingusamy, too, has made a similar comment.
Only time will say whether their warnings will turn out to be an empty one. Big-hero Telugu movies starring Prabhas, Allu Arjun and others are the only ones getting a wide release in Tamil Nadu. If there is a ban on such movies, the market of our heroes will be affected.
But all indications are that such an eventuality won't take place. Controversies between film industries are normal. They will be sorted out through deliberations. No producer of any industry can afford to ban other language movies in the era of pan-India releases.
