Nandamuri Balakrishna on Monday apologized to female nurses after he courted controversy over a passing, casual remark that he recently made on the Aha talk show, Unstoppable. In the much-touted Pawan Kalyan episode, Balayya described as a hottie the nurse who took care of him at a hospital when he met with a road accident in his college days.
Since Balayya sexualized the nurse, the Andhra Pradesh Nursing Welfare Association staged a dharna protest, demanding that the 'Veera Simha Reddy' actor must withdraw the remarks.
In his statement, Balayya sounded defensive. He said that his words have been distorted in a negative light. Describing nurses as his younger sisters, the 'Akhanda' actor paid a tribute to their 24/7 service, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finally, Balayya tendered an apology, saying that he is sorry if somebody got offended.
