'Martin Luther King', directed by debutante Poja Kolluru, is the official remake of the Tamil film 'Mandela' (2021). A political satire, the film has Sampoornesh Babu reprising the role originally played by Yogi Babu. The male lead will be seen as a hairstylist whose vote becomes the deal-breaker in a local election. Issues like caste-based discrimination are at the core of the film's social themes.
The film will be released in theatres on October 27. Sampoornesh Babu, known for the spoof films 'Kobbari Matta' and 'Hridaya Kaleyam', will be seen in a semi-serious role in 'Martin Luther King'. Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations is going to release it in theatres in the Telugu States.
Venkatesh Maha of 'Care Of Kancharapalem' fame is its creative producer. "A remake of an essential film is equal to the remakes of all the epics from mother languages to other languages. It is for the people who couldn’t afford reading or watching them in the original language (sic)," he wrote on Twitter, sharing the first poster.
