For the past few days, it has been rumoured that the Mahesh Babu-SS Rajamouli movie will see Netflix chipping in as a partner. The film's budget is rumoured to be Rs 1,000 Cr.
This is not the first time such a rumour has taken shape. In 2008, media reports claimed that Warner Bros. would be investing in a movie directed by Rajamouli with Mahesh Babu as the hero. At that time, a prominent daily described Mahesh's rumoured remuneration for the rumoured project to be hovering around Rs 10 Cr. The fee was described as "whopping". By today's standards, the rumour looks quite cheap because Rs 10 Cr has no value any longer for superstars.
K Raghavendra Rao's son Prakash Kovelamudi was said to be in talks with Warner Bros. for the project that never took shape. Perhaps, Rajamouli did intend to make a film with Mahes but couldn't.
This time, though, everything is falling into place. And an international collaboration is sure to happen!
