Samantha Ruth Prabhu was supposed to do an international film titled 'Chennai Story'. That was a couple of years ago. With the film's production getting unduly delayed, the 'Kushi' actress had to opt out of it.
The project has now been revived and announced again. This time, 'Salaar' actress Shruti Haasan has replaced the 'Majili' actress. The Indo-UK co-production will be helmed by Philip John. Predominantly, it will be an English film with lots of Tamil and Welsh thrown in.
"The film will be shot in Wales and India. While the female protagonist will be seen as a detective, it is a coming-of-age romantic comedy," the makers said. It will hit the cinemas in early 2025.
Samantha lost out on quite a few projects due to Myositis, her autoimmune condition. 'Chennai Story' is one of them. Shruti, on the other hand, has seen a resuscitation of her career in the last 12 months.
