Sai Dharam Tej's movie with director Sampath Nandi and Sithara Entertainments went on the floors last year. In October last year, a glimpse video named 'First Assault' was released by the makers.
According to the latest buzz in town, 'Gaanja Shankar' has reportedly been called off due to budgetary constraints. Sithara Entertainments, known for its meticulous financial planning, has opted to scrap the project.
If budgetary concerns are indeed the cause, it could be linked to the downturn in the OTT rights market over the past few months. Producers Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya (of Forutne Four Cinemas) appear to have made the unavoidable decision in response to these challenges.
Meanwhile, the two producers await the release of Vishwak Sen's 'Gangs Of Godavari' (March 8th release, unless postponed again) and Siddhu Jonnalagadda's 'Tillu Square' (March 29th release) in the coming month.
