In recent times, the best of Sunil has been seen in non-Telugu movies. Last year, he was seen as Ekambaram in Vishal-SJ Suryah's 'Mark Antony', wherein he had decent entertainment to offer. As a rival of Vishal's character, he got to play a prominent part in that gangster comedy. Sunil was also seen in Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' and Karthi's 'Japan' as well. In the former, he played a parodic matinee idol named Blast Mohan. In the latter, he was seen in an ineffective role, though. In 'Maaveeran', Sunil was seen as Paramu, the funny secretary to a Minister. He had a major role in 'BAAK' ('Aranmanai 4').
'MAX' is the next pan-Indian movie in which Sunil is playing a prominent character. Starring Kiccha Sudeepa in the lead, the film's Trailer suggests that Sunil is probably a major antagonist whose get-up is a derivative of his Blast Mohan look.
Contrast the above to how Sunil has been offered largely dull roles in Telugu cinema. He was just about okay in 'Geethanjali Malli Vachindhi', the horror-comedy. The more recent 'Harom Hara' had him in an unmemorable part.
'Pushpa 2' and 'SWAG' are two of the Telugu movies he can bank on.
