Allu Sirish on Wednesday said that the proportion of the theatre-going populace in the Telugu States is much, much higher compared to that among the Hindi-speaking populace owing to just one reason: affordable ticket rates.
The actor, who awaits the release of 'Buddy' on August 2, said that there is a need to keep the rates lower at least for single screens. "About 3-4 crore Telugus watch movies in theatres. While the Hindi-speaking population is many times greater, the number of people who visit theatres is almost the same as those among the Telugus. We shouldn't lose this edge by hiking ticket rates," Sirish said.
Allu Sirish may bat for lower rates, but everytime a big-ticket release comes out in Telugu, the rates soar like anything, touching Rs 500 in multiplexes in Hyderabad.
