'Kalki 2898 AD' is slated to be released in theatres on June 27. Just 24 days ahead of the release, the on-ground sentiment around the Prabhas-starrer is said to be bleak.
So far, the makers are yet to kick off the promotions in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities in northern India. The talk is that two separate high-profile events will be held in Mumbai and Delhi in the second week of June.
Prabhas didn't utter a word for the promotions of 'Salaar'. He was too scared to face the media before the release of 'Adipurush'. 'Radhe Shyam' was wiped out anyways in Hindi. This time, if he has to face the media, it would take a lot of courage and guts. He will be flooded with unfriendly questions by the Bollywood media. Nevertheless, he must go crisscross several cities come what may. Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan are not going to do it for him. Kamal Haasan is no crowd-puller in Hindi.
If the Trailer appeals to the audience, the mythological sci-fi could take impressive openings. The Hindi market is atypical. It takes to films slowly at the box-office depending on 'word of mouth'. The lack of awareness, if anything, will be a disaster. Director Nag Ashwin and producer C Aswini Dutt will do well to fasten the seat belts.
