Last year, Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' lifted the spirits of the anti-regime populace like anything. Suddenly, it looked like Bollywood had started standing up to the Narendra Modi government. 'Jawan' had scenes and dialogues that were not-so-subtly directed at the BJP government at the Centre. Congress supporters rooted for the film and promoted it with gusto, saying that SRK was speaking up on behalf of the whole country.
Cut to the present, SRK attended the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi on Sunday. He was one of the few Bollywood celebs present on the occasion.
"SRK is spineless. He is a coward. He should have declined the invite," many online social media handles with the DP of Rahul Gandhi were found saying.
SRK was last year seen also in 'Pathaan' and 'Dunki'. The latter became a slow hit, trumping Prabhas' 'Salaar'.
