Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon was thrust into a nightmare scenario recently hours after a mob accosted her on a Mumbai street. The spark? A fabricated video that painted a wildly untrue picture. The outlandish accusations? Drunk driving, assault, and disrespect towards an elder.
The maker of the hoax is now under scrutiny. Raveena has slapped him with a defamation suit. She expects him to pay her one billion rupees.
Accusing the freelance journalist of spreading false information, the lawyer notice said, "Recently an attempt was made to embroil my client Raveen in a false and frivolous allegation which was clarified in CCTV footage and the allegation was withdrawn. This dissemination of false news appears to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish Raveena’s reputation for ulterior motives."
