"Prabhas remains a solid draw in northern India despite his recent films underperforming in the Hindi market. That's because he never compromised his image. His films failed but his stardom has been intact. It's a lesson for all upcoming actors who aspire to theatrical glory. Treat yourself as a brand. Don't dilute it."
The above comment has been made by box-office analyst Vishek Chauhan. It comes amid 'Kalki 2898 AD' showing signs of good buzz in the Hindi territory.
Prabhas' fans may be happy with the observation but is it really the case that the 'Baahubali' actor has not diluted his brand? 'Radhe Shyam' took dismal openings in Hindi. On the other hand, 'Adipurush' took massive openings. The reason is so obvious.
The biggest merit of Prabhas' filmography is that he has done event films most of the time after the 'Baahubali' duology: 'Saaho', 'Salaar' and now 'Kalki 2898 AD'. 'Radhe Shyam' looked nothing of that sort. So, the Hindi audience didn't care. On the other hand, 'Kalki' is a dystopian epic action drama. It looks like a theatrical experience worth it.
