An event was held today to announce the release date of 'Thandel'. Besides Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the who's who associated with the movie graced the occasion.
Right from the word go, the host tried to manufacture hype, saying that everyone was waiting with a bated breath to know the release date of 'Thandel'. The date, however, was already known to thousands (or even lakhs) of social media users because of the "exclusive" social media posts by a section of the Tollywood media.
When you want to build hype for such "release date announcement" press meets/events, at least make sure that the date doesn't get leaked out. It's laughable that the best-kept secret gets revealed in the form of an "exclusive" every time, defeating the very purpose of the hungama, which ends up seeming like a circus.
Even though 'Thandel' has been in the making for a long time, the makers tried to reason that production-related delays are inevitable. To build some momentum or whatever you call it, the release date was announced amid fanfare.
Most of the cine-goers out there don't care about the release date of most movies until they like its Teaser or Trailer. It's such pre-release promotional material that must do the talking. Telugu cinema is taking publicity stunts to wholly ridiculous levels.
