Shah Rukh Khan's Endorsements: A Scam Magnet?

"I have a simple rule that will prevent you from getting scammed. If Shah Rukh Khan endorses it, stay the fuck away. Byjus, Hometrade, Fair and Lovely, IIPM, A23 Rummy. There must be more scammy brands he has endorsed," wrote a social media user named Peeleraja. His X post is curious, making one wonder if SRK can be accused of fooling his audience.

There is a view that SRK should have been doing his homework, considering he would have the best advisers for asking. "Don't the managers and team do any due diligence? Don't he and his team realise his influence and how it affects the masses? God has been so generous with love, fame and money with him, yet he can't act responsibly," wrote Anuja Jain.

SRK's fans say that there are brands that he has endorsed and they have done well. "Hyundai, and Big Basket come to mind immediately. If the firms scammed the customers, it can’t be the fault of the brand ambassador," a supporter adds.

Neutrally speaking, brand endorsements are subject to moral constraints. "Only a man-child buys a product endorsed by a Bollywood celebrity. Now-a-days, with Sachin Tendulkar endorsing a fantasy–gaming app and Sunil Gavaskar endorsing Kamla Pasand pan–masala, it is time to not buy any product endorsed by a celebrity," an X user argues.
