A fan theory is doing the rounds about 'Devara' is that Singappa (Prakash Raj) is the chief antagonist in the story.
As per this theory, narrator Singappa uses phrases like 'Aa oori janaalu', 'Aa oori manushulu' but never says 'Maa oori janaalu'. Director Koratala Siva may have used the character to be the narrator to hoodwink the audience. "Nobody would think the narrator is the villain," a fan of Tarak wrote. If true, then Saif Ali Khan's Bhaira is just a puppet.
"In 'Devara 2', we will learn why Singappa doesn't have kind feelings for the 'konda' of Ratnagiri. Prakash Raj never plays insubstantial characters. In the story, he is probably the main antagonist," the theory says.
But playing a narrator in a big-ticket film like 'Devara' is not trivial. Prakash Raj was forced into 'KGF 2'. So, it is not like he is not averse to playing secondary roles in a pan-Indian movie if the screen time for his character is decent. Also, why would Saif Ali Khan play a dummy villain?
