'Thalaivi', starring Kangana Ranaut as J Jayalalithaa, will be released in theatres on September 10. The festival release will be clashing with Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi's 'Love Story' in theatres. To be released simultaneously in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil, the biopic is helmed by AL Vijay.
If Aravind Swamy has played MGR, the film has a host of talented actors in other important roles. Kangana was not the first choice for Jaya's character. The posters released so far indicate that she enjoyed playing the role, which the 'Queen' actress essayed by studying the filmography of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
To be released by Zee Studios, the film is presented by Vibri Motion pictures, Karma Media Entertainment and Zee Studios in association with Gothic Entertainment and Sprint Films. Bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh, its music is out on T-Series.
The film completed its shoot last year.
