The Telugu Film Producers' Council has requested the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to allow 100% seating capacity in theatres and multiplexes on the lines of what the Tamil Nadu government has done ahead of Pongal.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Council urged the state governments of the Telugu States to consider the fact that the 50% rule is not viable, given that the management of cinemas and the cost of observing the several Standard Operating Procedures is high.
"We hereby request the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to please issue an order to increase the seating limit across all cinemas in the Telugu States," the Council's letter says.
