'Bangarraju', starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and his son Naga Chaitanya in the lead, was released on January 14 for Sankranthi. Directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, the film has grossed Rs 76 Cr worldwide, the makers said.
The fantasy-comedy entertainer, where romance is a key element, is the highest grosser in Nagarjuna's career as far as Andhra and Ceded regions are concerned. The figure in Ceded stands at Rs 12 Cr.
"The film is into the third week of run and is holding well in several territories," a source said.
Going by the figures, it's clear that the family audience have watched 'Bangarraju' in large numbers. With music by Anup Rubens, 'Bangarraju' also featured Ramya Krishna, Krithi Shetty and Govind Padmasoorya in key roles.
Nagarjuna's next theatrical release is 'The Ghost'. Naga Chaitanya's next is 'Thank You'. Both these films are expected to be out in theatres only in May or so.
