Hollywood critic Scott Mendelson has written off 'Brahmastra'. In his Forbes review of the movie, he opined that the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer makes the same mistakes that Universal’s Dark Universe and most other post-Avengers attempts at a cinematic universe have committed in Hollywood.
As per the critic, the film, like the various failed attempts to craft an MCU-style universe, puts plot over character, mythology over in-the-moment intrigue and future-tense exposition over present-tense entertainment. This is something director Ayan Mukerji must take note of.
The critic feels that 'Brahmastra' should have focused on the core heroic characters and prioritized establishing winning cinematic variations on its marquee characters.
Starring Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Akkineni Nagarjuna, 'Brahmastra' is doing very well at the box office.
